Landscaping & Garden
"Breathing botanical life and soil-conditioning balance into your land"
Sensory Ecosystem Design
Landscaping at Vanam is designed to stimulate all five senses. Under the direct planning of co-founder Vidya P, we reject artificial manicured grass turfs that demand heavy chemical fertilizers and extreme water volumes. Instead, we create self-sustaining tropical gardens and dry-bed rockscapes using species native to North India.
We prioritize deep soil conditioning, layering organic vermicompost and coco-peat grids to nurture micro-organisms before planting. Our layouts integrate basalt stepping pathways, stone-clad campfire firepits, natural bird-baths, and subsurface automated drip-feed networks that keep plants thriving while reducing water usage by 60%.
Our Landscaping Concepts
Sensory Tropical Buffer
We layer broadleaf Areca palms, flowering Plumeria rubra (Champa), exotic ginger lilies, and intensely aromatic night-blooming jasmine (Raat Rani) along the farmhouse borders. This creates a highly private, lush, temperature-lowering micro-climate buffer that sings with birds.
Basalt Firepits & Paths
We carve stepping-stone pathways from local flat basalt slate. At the center of the garden, we stack rugged basalt boulders to form a deep, sunken campfire circle with integrated stone benches—perfect for cool, starry cool mountain weekend nights with family.
Succulent Modern Rockery
As illustrated in our signature pots layout, we compose low-maintenance rock beds layered with white river pebbles and volcanic gravel, staging custom-made, heavy white spherical concrete planters containing architectural desert cacti and blue agaves.

Landscaping FAQ Accordion
We strongly favor native and adaptive species (about 85%). Native plants require 90% less chemical treatment, match the local soil chemistry, and survive severe summer droughts. We only selectively layer non-invasive tropical exotics (like Champa and Palms) for specific architectural blockings.
We build fully automated subsurface drip-irrigation lines. These lines drop water directly into the root zones of the plants, preventing standard spray evaporation loss. All lines are connected to a central rain-harvesting tank or bio-pond overflow buffer.
Yes, our masons are experts. We carve a sunken basalt circular pit lined with fireproof thermal refractory bricks. We wrap the surrounding circle in dry-stone basalt benches, creating an incredibly secure, elegant wood-burning fire ring.
Because we design self-balancing ecosystems, our gardens require minimal interference. Standard pruning of grasses and palms is only required once every 3 months. We provide a complete seasonal care manual and offer quarterly maintenance checkups for your peace of mind.
